Common questions
Can Packet install APKs on my iPhone?
No — iOS does not allow it. Install from Packet for Android, or hand the APK over from your iPhone with Share or WiFi.
How do I send an APK from iPhone to an Android phone?
Open the app and tap WiFi. With both phones on the same network, scan the QR code with the Android phone and download the APK in its browser. The link carries a short code, and the server closes as soon as you leave the screen.
Chrome says the APK can harm my device.
Chrome shows that warning for every APK, whatever it is. Check the details in Packet's inspector if you're unsure what you're installing.
Android won't let Packet install apps.
Open Settings › Installing › Allow installs from Packet and turn it on. Packet continues the install when you come back.
It says “Different key — Android will refuse this update”.
That version was signed with a different key than the app you have installed. Android only accepts updates signed by the same key, so you'd need to uninstall the current app first.
Do I need an account?
No. Signed out, Packet works as a local-only locker. Sign in (email and password, or a 6-digit email code) to see the same locker on every phone.
How many versions are kept?
The last 10 versions of each app. Every version shows where it came from and whether it's installed or on this phone.
How do I free up space on my phone?
Settings › Locker › Clear downloaded copies. Only copies that are safely in your locker are removed.
How do I delete my account?
Settings › Account › Delete account. This removes your locker, every APK in it, and your activity from all phones. APKs saved on a phone stay there.
